The need for this review has arisen because the demand for telephone connections has increased considerably. According to TRAI, the country will need 260 crore numbers by 2050 to meet the needs of people connected to the connections in the country. This is why mobile phone numbers will need to increase.
GoogleIndia currently has 120 crore telephone connections. According to the United Nations report, India will leave China behind with 160 million population. Due to the increasing demand for telephone numbers, TRAI has to look for options to increase the number of numbers. Let me tell you that numbers starting from 9, 8 and 7 have a capacity of 2.1 billion connections.
Apart from this, 2.6 billion additional numbers will be needed to meet the demand of the country by 2050. TRAI has sought an opinion from the people about this. For this, the authority has fixed the deadline of 21 October.
Earlier in 1993 and in 2003, India reviewed the numbering plans. The 2003 numbering plans opened the way for an additional 750 million phone connections. Of this, 450 million were cellular and 300 were basic landline phones.

इसके अलावा 2050 तक देश की मांग को पूरा करने के लिए 2.6 बिलियन अतिरिक्त नंबर्स की जरुरत पड़ेगी|ट्राई ने इस बारे में लोगों से राय मांगी है| इसके लिए अथॉरिटी ने 21 अक्टूबर की डेडलाइन तय की है|
इससे पहले 1993 में और 2003 में भारत ने नंबरिंग प्लान्स की समीक्षा की थी| 2003 के नंबरिंग प्लान्स से 750 मिलियन अतिरिक्त फ़ोनकनेक्शंस के लिए रास्ता खुल गया था| इसमें से 450 मिलियन सेलुलर और 300 बेसिक लैंडलाइन फ़ोन्स थे|
