ट्रेंड माइक्रो के रिसर्चर्स ने 9 फर्जी ऐंड्रॉयड ऐप्स की पहचान की है जो यूजर्स के डेटा को गलत तरीके से ऐक्सेस कर रहे हैं। चिंता की बात यह है कि इन ऐप्स को अब तक कुल 4 लाख 70 हजार बार डाउनलोड किया जा चुका है। ये फर्जी ऐप्स गूगल प्ले स्टोर पर परफॉर्मेंस ऑप्टिमाइजेशन टूल के तौर पर मौजूद हैं।

गूगल प्ले स्टोर इन ऐप्स की पहचान न कर सके इसलिए ये इंस्टॉल होने से पहले यूजर्स को प्ले प्रटेक्ट डिसेबल करने के लिए कहते हैं। प्ले प्रटेक्ट गूगल का प्रोग्राम है जिससे वह इन फर्जी ऐप्स पर रोक लगाता है। प्ले प्रटेक्ट डिसेबल होने के बाद हैकर्स यूजर के स्मार्टफोन में अपनी मर्जी के अनुसार फर्जी ऐप्स और मैलवेयर को पहुंचा देते हैं।
