However, the government has launched a web portal to deal with this, which will help in finding stolen or lost mobile phones. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has launched a web portal for the people. Currently, users of Delhi NCR and Mumbai will be able to take advantage of this portal.
Its testing was started in September 2019. This system has been prepared by the ‘Center for Development of Telematics, CDOT’. The Delhi Police and Department of Telecom have also helped CDOT in developing it. Testing of this project started in September 2019
So let’s know how you can trace your lost or stolen mobile phone with the help of this portal
- Friends, first of all, report the theft or loss of your mobile phone to the nearest police station.
- Then after the number is blocked, again apply for a new SIM card with copy and ID proof.
- Now to block the IMEI number of the phone, go to this link of ‘Central Equipment Identity Register, CEIR’ ➠ https://ceir.gov.in/
- On this portal, you have to fill the registration form. After this, you will get a request ID. You can use this request ID to track your mobile phone.
- On getting a mobile phone, you can unblock the blocked IMEI number and use it again.
- Telecom operators share data
Friends, the Central Equipment Identity Register system has been designed to find lost or stolen mobile phones. Its special thing is that it is connected to the IMEI database of all operators in the country. Telecom operators share the mobile phone data of all the users connected to their network in CEIR so that it cannot be misused on any other network in case of theft or loss.
- Cloning of IMEI will be banned
Friends, all mobiles have a unique IMEI number for their identity. This number is reprogrammable, because of which the fraudsters reprogram it. This leads to cloning of IMEI and multiple phones are used on the same IMEI number.
According to the Department of Telecommunication, many cases of cloned or duplicate handsets are reported today, in such a way that if the IMEI number is blocked, those whose mobiles have been stolen will be harassed. Because of this, there is a need to get rid of duplicate and fake IMEI phones. To deal with this problem, this portal has been started, so that we will not have to worry more in case of a lost or stolen phone.

सितम्बर, 2019 में इसकी टेस्टिंग शुरू की गयी थी| इस सिस्टम को ‘सेंटर फॉर डेवलपमेंट ऑफ़ टेलीमेटिक्स, सी-डी.ओ.टी’ ने तैयार किया है| इसे डेवेलप करने में दिल्ली पुलिस और डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ़ टेलीकॉम ने भी सी-डी.ओ.टी कि मदद की है| इस प्रोजेक्ट की टेस्टिंग सितम्बर, 2019 में शुरू हुई थी
तो आइये जानते हैं कि कैसे आप इस पोर्टल की मदद से अपने खोए या चोरी हुए मोबाइल फ़ोन का पता लगा सकते हैं
- दोस्तों सबसे पहले अपने मोबाइल फ़ोन के चोरी या खो जाने की शिकायत नजदीकी पुलिस स्टेशन में दर्ज कराएं|
- फिर नंबर ब्लॉक होने के बाद फिर की कॉपी और आईडी प्रूफ के साथ नए सिम कार्ड के लिए अप्लाई करें|
- अब फ़ोन के आई.एम.इ.आई नंबर को ब्लॉक कराने के लिए ‘सेंट्रल इक्विपमेंट आइडेंटिटी रजिस्टर, सी.इ.आई.आर’ के इस दिए गए लिंक पर जाएं ➠ https://ceir.gov.in/
- इस पोर्टल पर आपको रजिस्ट्रेशन फॉर्मभरने होंगे| इसके बाद आपको एक रिक्वेस्ट आईडी मिलेगी| इस रिक्वेस्ट आईडी का इस्तेमाल आप अपने मोबाइल फ़ोन को ट्रैक करने के लिए कर सकते हैं|
- मोबाइल फ़ोन मिलने पर आप ब्लॉक किये गए आई.एम.इ.आई नंबर को अनब्लॉक कर फिर से इस्तेमाल कर सकते हैं|
- टेलीकॉम ऑपरेटर्स शेयर करते हैं डाटा
दोस्तों, खोए या चोरी हुए मोबाइल फ़ोन को ढूढ़ने के लिए सेंट्रल इक्विपमेंट आइडेंटिटी रजिस्टर सिस्टम तैयार किया गया है| इसकी खास बात है कि यह देश के सभी ऑपरेटर्स के आई.एम.इ.आई डेटाबेस से कनेक्टेड है| टेलीकॉम ऑपरेटर्स सी.इ.आई.आर में अपने नेटवर्क से जुड़े सभी यूजर के मोबाइल फ़ोन के डेटा शेयर करते हैं, ताकि चोरी या खोने कि स्थीति में किसी दूसरे नेटवर्क पर इसका गलत इस्तेमाल ना किया जा सके|
- आई.एम.इ.आई की क्लोनिंग पर लगेगी रोक
दोस्तों, सभी मोबाइल में उनकी पहचान के लिए एक यूनिक आई.एम.इ.आई नंबर होता है| यह नंबर रेप्रोग्रम्मबल होता है, जिसकी वजह से चोरी करने वाले जालसाज़ इसे रिप्रोग्राम कर देते हैं| इसके चलते आई.एम.इ.आई की क्लोनिंग हो जाती है और एक ही आई.एम.इ.आई नंबर पर कई फ़ोन इस्तेमाल कर लिए जाते हैं|
टेलेकम्युनिकशन्स डिपार्टमेंट के मुताबिक, आज कल क्लोन या डुप्लीकेट हैंडसेट के कई मामले सामने आते हैं, ऐसे में आई.एम.इ.आई नंबर को ब्लॉक कर दिया जाए तो जिनका मोबाइल चोरी हुआ है उन्हें परेशान होना पड़ेगा| इस वजह से डुप्लीकेट और फेक आई.एम.इ.आई फ़ोन से छुटकारा पाने की जरुरत है| इसी समस्या से निपटने के लिए इस पोर्टल को शुरू किया गया है, जिससे हमें फ़ोन खो जाने या चोरी हो जाने की स्थिति में अधिक परेशान होने की जरुरत नहीं पड़ेगी|
